Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Here you'll find all the answers to your questions about using, activating, and the compatibility of our travel eSIMs.
What exactly is an eSIM?
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card that is permanently built into your smartphone's motherboard. It works exactly like a physical SIM card, but does not require the exchange of plastic cards; instead, it is programmed digitally using a QR code.
How does an eSIMFast travel eSIM work?
After your purchase, you'll receive a QR code via email. As soon as you scan it with your smartphone, the device will download the required mobile network profile. Once you arrive in your destination country, the eSIM will automatically connect to our partner network, giving you instant internet access.
Is my smartphone compatible with eSIM?
Most modern smartphones manufactured in 2019 or later (e.g., Apple iPhone XR/11 or newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 or newer, Google Pixel 3 or newer) support eSIM. Please check our detailed list under " Compatible Devices " before purchasing.
When is the best time to install the eSIM?
We strongly recommend that you scan the QR code at home using a stable Wi-Fi connection the day before your departure or right before your flight. The validity period for most plans does not begin until the eSIM connects to a mobile network in your destination country.
Do I need an Internet connection to install it?
Yes, an active and stable internet connection (preferably via Wi-Fi) is absolutely necessary to download the eSIM profile from the server to your smartphone.
Can I continue to use my regular physical SIM card at the same time?
Yes, absolutely! Most devices support the dual-SIM feature. You can keep your German SIM card active for important calls and text messages and use the eSIM exclusively for mobile data while on vacation.
Will I keep my WhatsApp number with the eSIM?
Yes. The eSIM won't affect your apps. Your WhatsApp account will remain fully linked to your usual phone number, since WhatsApp runs entirely over the eSIM's mobile data connection.
Can I make calls or send text messages with the eSIM?
Our eSIM plans are data-only plans. They do not include a local phone number and do not support traditional cell phone calls or text messages. However, you can easily make calls using VoIP services such as WhatsApp, Skype, or FaceTime.
Do I need to enable data roaming?
Yes! To ensure that the travel eSIM works abroad, you must enable data roaming for the eSIM profile in your smartphone's settings. You should disable it for your regular main SIM to avoid charges.
Can I scan the QR code more than once?
No. For security reasons, an eSIM QR code can only be registered once and on a single device. Do not attempt to delete the profile, as it will become permanently unusable afterward.
What should I do if I've deleted the QR code?
If you have deleted the email containing the QR code, please contact our support team immediately with your order number so that we can resend the information to you.
Can I transfer the eSIM to another cell phone?
No, once the scan is complete, you can no longer transfer the profile to another device, because the profile is permanently linked to your smartphone's hardware ID.
How do I check my remaining data allowance?
You can check your remaining balance in real time on our special tracking page: Live eSIM Fast Tracker. Simply enter your activation code there.
What happens when I run out of data?
Once you've used up your data allowance, your Internet connection will automatically stop. You'll never incur any unexpected additional charges (no roaming charges).
Can I top up my eSIM?
We do not currently offer direct top-ups. If you need more data, you can simply purchase a new plan on our website and install it as a second eSIM.
Does the QR code have an expiration date?
Yes, you should activate the eSIM within 6 months of the purchase date. Once scanned, the eSIM's lifespan depends on the plan's validity period (e.g., 7, 15, or 30 days).
Can I set up a personal hotspot (tethering)?
Yes, with almost all of our eSIM plans, you can share your internet connection with other devices (laptops, tablets) via a hotspot without any restrictions.
Why don't I have 5G even though my plan supports it?
5G availability depends heavily on the local network coverage of the partner carrier in each country, as well as on your smartphone model. In regions without 5G, the device automatically switches to a stable 4G/LTE connection.
What is an ICCID, and where can I find it?
The ICCID is the unique 19- to 20-digit serial number for your digital SIM card. You can find it in your smartphone's settings under "eSIM Info" or in your confirmation email.
My eSIM won't connect to the Internet—what should I do?
Please check the following points:
- Is data roaming enabled for the eSIM?
- Is the eSIM selected as the primary source for "Mobile Data"?
- Did you restart the device once after installing it?
Can I use multiple eSIMs on my iPhone at the same time?
You can store multiple eSIM profiles on your smartphone (often up to 8 profiles), but only one travel eSIM can be active at a time alongside your primary physical SIM.
Do I need to delete the eSIM after my vacation?
Once the subscription has expired or you've used up your data allowance, you can simply delete the eSIM profile in your phone's mobile network settings to keep things organized.
